Re-Opening: Transitions and Procedures
Hello to the Yoga Gallery Community,
My name is Maylo Epperson. I have taught in the evenings at Yoga Gallery for the last several years and I have missed you all so very much. To every single person who is involved in this community and who has been waiting patiently for so long, I want you to know how much great care, respect, and love has been going out to all of you during this time. We each have felt so very reverent and mindful as we worked diligently to prepare the safest and nurturing environment for you to come back to.
We have worked side by side with Patti to make certain that the high teaching standards at Yoga Gallery remain intact and that the reputation of Yoga Gallery that has been built over the years by its excellent leadership and community, stands unchanged and continues to thrive as we move forward.
I cannot say exactly how I ended up being the person that is talking to you now. I can only tell you that I have a great love for this particular studio for many reasons that I am sure we have in common. My heart as we move on together is huge.
I will do whatever it takes to meet the standards and needs that you are used to and I will be as transparent and available as I can be should you have any concerns or questions.
New Studio Policies and Procedures
Onto the nuts and bolts, or 'Housekeeping" as it is now:
To ensure the utmost safety for all...here is what the studio will look like and what policies are now in place to keep physical contact at a minimum.
Please reserve your class online on Mindbody app at least one hour before class. Spaces are limited. Please cancel your reservation should something come up so someone else may have that space. Remain gracious in this regard. You will notice right away one big change. Physiques group Pilates classes will also be visible on the schedule with Yoga classes. This is a GREAT thing and I highly recommend you try a class to compliment your Yoga practice.
There is a strict 'mask on' policy for everyone as they move thru the building. Mask on before you enter, as you exit, as you wander, please.
Enter thru the Yoga Gallery Door you are used to on the West side of the building under the black awning. The lobby will look a little bit different as we are still reviving the space. Enter the sliding glass doors and follow left to find the large Dance/Yoga Studio. You will find cubbies for your shoes etc under benches in both Yoga Gallery and Dance studio lobbies.
You will see that 15 ft squares have been taped off on each side of the studio. You may take one of those squares, unroll your mat and remove your mask. There is a sanitizing station within each square.
For the time being, Props are not available for use. If you have your own strap or block or blanket please bring it with you. Until we all get on the other side of this, we want to remain safe and healthy.
ENJOY your class! Some of your favorite teachers are still with us and there are just a couple of absolutely great new teachers to introduce you to. ( you might even already know them)
For those in our community unable to make day classes or not at all comfortable coming to a live class, we are working as fast as we can to bring virtual classes to the Yoga Gallery schedule. It should not be too long.
Whew! Okay, Yogis......we have a much bigger space and a much bigger family now. Please introduce yourself to Juan or Stefani if you see them, for they have given so much and worked so hard to bring all of this movement and life as Dance, Pilates, Gyrotonic, and Yoga to the community. They are so very happy and excited to meet you and to open their 'home' to you.
Aparigraha is a virtue and continual observation of the Yogi. It means 'non-grasping' 'non-craving' 'non-attachment'.
It lives in the very first limb of Yoga, the Yama's. ( Did you know that there were 2 more limbs of yoga before we even get to Asana? I bet you did because you are a Yoga Gallery student )
We all, each one of us, have such strong memories, bonds, and ties to our Yoga studio as it was. May we honor all that was years ago and yesterday by receiving what is today, our new home, with gratitude and excitement about what can become.
Let not any dissatisfaction or impatience rob you of contentment as we all adjust together.
This.....will be good.
Peace,
Maylo
